On behalf of the Committee of the Durban Wings Club, organizers of the annual Durban Airshow, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to welcome to our skies, aircraft from all over South Africa to Virginia airport on 11 and 12 July for another top-notch show.
Our new sponsors, The City of Durban, have joined forces with us and together we will take the show to a whole new level. We thank Durban, Africa's Sports Capital for their tremendous support. As eventors we realise the importance of putting on an event of this stature in the lead up to 2010.
It gives us great pleasure to welcome the SAAF again - they delighted many thousands of spectators each year and will, no doubt, thrill us this year.
Our show is not only one of the most exciting airshows’ in the world, but is, without doubt, the worlds “most intimate Airshow”.
The biggest challenge this year has been to accommodate all the various displays ,and thus apart from one or two, the only repeats that we will have are because of public demand.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those people without whose valuable contributions this event would have been impossible to stage, and in particular, the various authorities such as ATNS, CAA, Aero Club, ASSA, SAP, Durban Metro and all the emergency services.
I wish all our visitors a safe and enjoyable day and look forward to seeing you at the greatest airshow of them all - The Durban Airshow 2009.
